As this year’s wedding season wraps up, I finally have a moment to share one of my favorite weddings from this summer! An elegant garden wedding with bright and fun pops of color, a full dance floor, and kind family & friends, Marissa and Arman’s wedding was amazing to be a part of! This was the first Persian wedding I’ve had the opportunity to shoot, so I loved seeing the unique traditions that differed from most of the weddings I’ve captured. I’m so excited to share their photos!
A quick bit about the couple: Marissa and Arman bonded over their love for good food, good TV, and their two cats. They met through mutual friends at a summer party while home from college, hit it off as friends, and things naturally evolved from there. They love exploring new cuisines, catching up on the latest TV shows (Better Call Saul and White Lotus are among their favorites), and spending time with friends. Now, they just completed a big move to Austin and can’t wait for all the new adventures ahead!
Before we dive into their beautiful wedding day, here are a few thoughts from Marissa and Arman!
“One of our favorite memories was the energy and joy on the dance floor during the reception. It was incredible to see all our friends and family—people from different parts of our lives—coming together and having a blast. Watching everyone dance, laugh, and celebrate with us was so special, like all the little pieces of our worlds were merging for one unforgettable night. It was amazing to see everyone so happy and truly living in the moment with us.”
“Remember that things may not go perfectly as planned, but that’s part of the magic. The day will be beautiful, no matter what. :)”
“We both loved the idea of being surrounded by nature because we wanted a setting that felt natural and beautiful. We wanted people to be able to walk around explore.”
“Our wedding vision was all about creating a colorful and whimsical garden vibe. We went with a sunset-inspired color palette—rich pinks, warm oranges, and soft yellows—to bring warmth to the day.”
(A quick note from Sierra -shout out to Apotheca Flowers for creating stunning florals that really captured the vision!!)
“Our wedding incorporated a Persian ceremony to honor Arman’s heritage. We loved bringing in elements that symbolized blessings for our life together. The ceremony was rich with tradition, from the sofreh aghd (a spread filled with symbolic items) to the sugar-rubbing ritual, which represented sweetness and harmony in our marriage.”

I've been photographing weddings since 2021 and I'm loving every minute! When I'm not behind the camera, you can find me spending time with my family and friends, reading a fantasy book, or watching Modern Family with my husband Josiah of Josiah Does Videos.
